What Is Rite of the Veilstorm?

Rite of the Veilstorm is a narrative-driven adventure game where the Codex — an ancient artifact holding the world together — is failing. You play as Myrin, chosen by the Keepers to complete five trials and decide the fate of existence: sacrifice yourself to preserve the world as it is, or embrace a new beginning.

The game is a first-person atmospheric fantasy experience with branching story paths based on your choices. It is free to download on itch.io (Windows, 225 MB).

How to Play

You begin in a mystical world on the brink of collapse. The Keepers present you with five trials, each testing a different aspect of your character. Complete each trial to gain access to the Codex and make your final choice.

Dialogue and environmental interactions drive the story. Pay attention to what the Keepers say — their words hint at the consequences of each path. After completing all five trials, you face the final decision that determines the ending.

Tips and Tricks

  • Talk to every Keeper: Each Keeper offers dialogue that reveals the lore and helps you understand the stakes of your final choice.
  • Explore thoroughly: The Veilstorm world is compact but detailed. Look for environmental clues that foreshadow the endings.
  • The trials are sequential: You must complete all five before the final choice. There is no way to skip or change your mind mid-trial.
  • Two endings: The story branches based on your final decision — sacrifice yourself to maintain order, or choose a new beginning that reshapes the world. Both are valid conclusions to Myrin's journey.
  • One playthrough is short: The game is designed to be completed in a single sitting (30–60 minutes). Replay for the alternate ending.
